Should you Start a Blog in 2026? Yes, but...

Why writing a blog in 2026 makes sense to me.

When Bloggsy Malone and I set out on this journey to create a blog for ourselves, a space online, we knew that it may be a bit unpopular considering the landscape of social and digital media in 2026. (and we should know better considering our combine 30+ years of digital advertising experience)

The landscape, perhaps better described as a hellscape, of online outrage, hate, frustration, teeth, fangs, algorithm feeds, ads, oh so much AI slop.

But that's the whole point.

A space online, that is ours and where we can softly connect with our tribes. On a platform that isn't driven by shareholder expectations and stock prices, but rather the human connection.

Subtly; each of us also have personal goals for engaging in a bear blog.

For Bloggsy, it's writing itself, for me, kinda the same, but slap on some ideals for me: to stand against corporate/commercial internet. My bearblog, if anything is an act of defiance. I have a few other goals too:

Blogs Aren't For Everyone, and That's Okay:

While I don't think a blog is for everyone, I have learned that it can be for we creatives that have a desire to exist, express ourselves, and connect with others in a safer way.

If it weren't so easy to use Bearblog, we may not have done it in the first place. It took us about 15 minutes to start, and 10 of those were deciding on the theme.

Don't feel obligated though, for many, a simple Instagram Account is good enough, or a Facebook community of like-minded fellows.

Yes, But...

I feel, to answer the question if you should start a blog in 2026, the answer would be better: "Yes, but".

Yes you should start a blog in the year of our lord 2026, it's fun, and an act of expression and self representation online.

But, also start with with intent. The understanding that you'd be doing this not for the likes or the views, although that is a fine motivation, you're doing it with a goal in mind, not to just make a new profile on the web.

Do it because you'll be more human by doing it.

Please enjoy yourself out there, and feel free to email me your blog if and when you begin yours.
